With more than 300 publications and 19 000 citations, Prof Oliana Carnevali is an accomplished researcher working in Department of Life and Environmental Sciences – DiSVA at Università Politecnica delle Marche in Italy. She is also now the new Vice President of the ISFE.
Oliana’s research focuses on reproductive and developmental biology of fish models. Her main focus is on the effects of probiotics on fish welfare, in addition her group has substantial interest in reproductive toxicology to monitor environmental risk. A wide spectrum of aspects such as embryo development, reproduction, energy metabolism, immune system and genotoxic aspects, on different fish models are evaluated. Zebrafish model is actually used for studies on stress tolerance, growth, food intake, health status, toxicological screening and metabolic disorders.
Oliana obtained her degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Camerino (1983), PhD in Molecular Biology at the University of Camerino (1989), research fellow in Comparative Endocrinology at the University of Camerino (1990). Associate Professor in Developmental Biology at Polytechnic University of Marche (1998). Full Professor of Developmental Biology at Polytechnic University of Marche (2004). Chair of Developmental Biology (UNIVPM) and Chair of Biology of Reproduction (Polytechnic University of Marche). She was Coordinator of Doctorate in Life and Environmental Sciences at UNIVPM from 2006 to 2020. From November 2019 she is the President of the master program in Molecular and Applied Biology. From 2013 to 2019 she was Research deputy of UNIVPM. Since 2019 she has been the Internationalization Deputy of UNIVPM.
